Asbolus - a Centaur
Astrology:
Asbolus inhibits a kind of "prophetic", intuitive and "life reading" ability in an observational way.
It comes from within and points oneself into directions and "life" - often it might be a little on the "negative side" in the meaning of seeing something disturbing harmony, privacy, or "creation" - a bit like a "lie detector".

Greek Mythology:
In mythology he's seen as a "Seer" or Auger (special type of bird, as far as I know, by now extinct). He was able to make predictions by reading natural life and patterns. He had a part in the story of Hercules at the Centaurs wine cave, of which Pholus did take care. It's also said, he predicted the bloody outcome at Pirithous' wedding (battle against the Lapiths).

Some Astronomy:
Centaurs are objects in between the asteroid and trans-Neptunian populations of the Solar System, which behave with characteristics of both asteroids and comets.
Asbolus orbits the Sun once every ca. 76.6 years. Its orbit has an inclination close to that of Pluto - just around 17.5° with respect to the ecliptic. It is believed that it originated in the Kuiper belt. (Ref. Wikipedia)

Asbolus orbital points: (heliocentric sidereal)

Southnode: 11° Virgo
Northnode: 11° Pisces
most south and north around
11° Sagittarius and Gemini around 17,5 degrees south and north of the ecliptic
Aphelion: 2°50' Cancer
Perihelion: 2°50' Capricorn

Asbolus' orbital cross is kind of "unique" - I have not yet found another planetary body yet (2 I haven't examined yet) to have this "orientation" of the cross.
I find this extraordinary.
Quaoar got his Northnode in sidereal Virgo at around 14°, so there's a relationship with Asbolus' Southnode here and Varuna got his Northnode at around 12° sidereal Gemini, therefore aligned with Asbolus' most northern point. Jupiter got his Northnode at around 15° sidereal Gemini, so the same kind of connection as Varuna, yet, "further away" - besides, and that's I think very telling here, when Asbolus is closest to the Sun, he's actually close to Jupiter's orbit without entering it.
His Aphelion / Perihelion axis suggests a relationship of "influence" with Pholus and Chariklo. Pholus got his Northnode in Cancer and therefore in relation to Asbolus' Aphelion, whereas Chariklo got her Northnode in Capricorn and therefore with Asbolus' Perihelion.
To a lesser degree (ca. 4,5 degrees apart) there's also Haumea's Northnode in Cancer in relationship to Asbolus' Aphelion.
"resulting thoughts":
When we look at the "path" of Asbolus, we can see, that his most northern point of orbit is happening when he's on the way to reach his Aphelion (near the realms of Neptune's and Pluto's Perihelia in the sense of distance).
He therefore, works most prominently from those realms and his connections / relationships with other outer planets, suggests he's influenced or working with "outer worldly" energies.
I think, all of the above, does show not only patterns of "life" connecting but the whole idea of how "life" connects to our inner worlds.
As he looks at everything kind of "upside down", he's able to perceive the "mistake or disharmony" between the intended outcome and our very own state of being and can lead us to "improvement".
Asbolus Discovery in 1995

Asbolus was at the time of his discovery a little passed his southnode and stood around 43 minutes south of the ecliptic - I think that adds a lot of discerning energy and the path of "seeding or envisioning" a new cycle, rebirth etc. - within his themes, it gives this feel of "bringing home" energy.
The star Porrima of Virgo, is a star often frequented by planets - especially our main planets, that do not go too far "off" the ecliptic. The more "eccentric and inclined" planetary bodies, do usually not come along this star. Interestingly, this star-name refers to the "goddess of prophecy" (coincidences do to me not exist as that).

He's in a square with Hygiea in sidereal Sagittarius and Pallas in sidereal Gemini, which means they stood near his most northern and southern points of orbit.
This gives quite a T-square, with his Northnode position "empty", yet the one, that would form the Grand-square.
Sometimes, what isn't "there" needs to be "created"... - kind of like the "task at hand".

Hygiea is connected to "Serpent energy" (kundalini) and Pallas to "puzzles, connecting pieces for problem solving or tactics".

How promising!!!
